December Brings SO Much Beautiful!

FEATURED NON-PROFIT OF THE MONTH:

Picture

See Beautifulis thrilled to name (drum roll please!) Givology as our December Non-Proft of the month! Come "give to learn, learn to give"...

When it comes to seeing beautiful, one of the most wonderful parts of what we get to do is support wonderful Non-Profit organizations. As we round out this year we are thrilled to celebrate the work of another incredible group of people who are committed to making this world a better place.

Why Givology?
"Givology partners with leading grassroots non-profit organizations, local communities, and schools to sponsor education grants and innovative community-based education projects. Through their website, you can support these initiatives and scholarships. Launched in March 2008 by students at the University of Pennsylvania, they are an Internet online giving marketplace for education that leverages small dollar donations to support grassroots projects and student scholarships in the developing world. As a P2P community at the forefront of the internet microphilanthropy revolution, Givology partners with NGOs and schools throughout the world and connects internet donors to grassroots causes. Through donor message functions, open blogging, and frequent student updates, Givology democratizes philanthropy by introducing choice, transparency, and information sharing in education philanthropy. More than anything, they care about making giving an active act - to actively engage all of you, our supporters, in our online community" (Givology, 2011).

How does Givology see & spread beautiful?
"In three years of operations, Givology has raised approximately $220,000 to support over 2,875 students in 23 different countries through 44 grassroots partners. The organization has 6,000+ supporters on Facebook, Linked-in, and Twitter, 2,440+ registered donors, 11 chapters started at universities, high schools, and various cities, 30 core team members and 90 volunteers globally.  We've done this while maintaining our core spirit as a 100% volunteer organization.

These statistics, however, fail to capture all the individual stories that form the heart of Givology. This year, they put together an innovative “Make Your Mark” campaign which touched hundreds of people as we set out on Union Square in New York City to challenge bystanders to think about their own impact on the world (You might remember us featuring this event HERE). With the funding and awareness generated, they're able to support our grassroots partners. Each of their partners has a unique story to tell, and they’re incredibly proud to highlight the impact they have generated over the year. From financing a poultry farm to sustain free tuition for disadvantaged students in Uganda and buying school uniforms for girls in Mexico, to library construction in rural India and student scholarships and mentoring in Guatemala, they’re dedicated to connecting you – our donor network – with innovative, community-driven projects and education causes. They take their motto, “Learn to Give, Give to Learn” very seriously. Everyone has something to share, whether it is time, resources, and skills, and they appreciate every contribution that you have to give" (Givology, 2011)!
