January Brings So Much Beautiful (and Opportunities to THRIVE)

See Beautiful is thrilled to name (drumroll, please!) Watch Her Thrive as our Non-Profit of the month!

When it comes to seeing beautiful, one of the most wonderful parts of what we get to do is raise awareness for, and donate to, wonderful non-profit organizations. January's featured organization, Watch Her Thrive, leaves us completely inspired. Helping other women thrive is a beautiful way to start 2013! We are honored and humbled to support a beautiful organization built upon changing the way we help women THRIVE in the world.
Founder Kimberly Riggins captures the need and personal understanding of this project in her writing and presenting. Her words are all one needs to process to understand why this project is so necessary and powerful:  "The Watch Her Thrive Project is a movement. A revolution. A catalyst for women to rise from the ashes. I am no stranger to adversity. I have suffered from a rape, an eating disorder, anxiety issues, been faced with a bankruptcy, no job, a foreclosure and a dwindling bank account. And yet, there has always been some comfort in knowing that I live in a country where there are resources, support and opportunities that could literally change my life overnight.
Unfortunately, the sad truth is, there are many women in our world who physically and emotionally do not have the means or the resources to change their circumstances. Some of these women right now are being raped, abused, mutilated and sold as if they were a commodity. Most of these women have little to no education, have been socially excluded from their country, watched their loved-ones die due to famine, or worse yet murder. They struggle everyday to provide even the most basic necessities – food, water, and shelter – for their families.

My first mission with The Watch Her Thrive Project is to help these women. To give them the gift of opportunity so they can rebuild their lives, learn their rights, and become leaders in their communities.

Let’s change the world.
One woman at a time.
And Watch Her Thrive" (Watch Her Thrive, 2012).
How does the Watch Her Thrive Project see & spread beautiful?
There are so many ways we're inspired by Watch Her Thrive and the myriad ways this space will help so many see beautiful. Here are just a few; the Watch Her Thrive Project will:
  • publish and sell a collaborative book, which will contain a collection of over 75 essays and stories on hope, courage and strength (of which See Beautiful is honored to be a part). Proceeds from the book will go directly to Women for Women International, an organization that provides financial aid, job training, rights awareness and leadership education to women of war-torn countries.
  • raise awareness for the women of the Democratic Republic of Congo who are being silenced and brutally abused; and
  • invite people in their community to raise awareness for womens rights and empowerment.
How will See Beautiful support the Watch Her Thrive Project?   Great question! See Beautiful™ will donate 20% of every product SALE (not proceeds, but the ENTIRE SALE) to the Watch Her Thrive Project throughout the month!
