Pay It Forward: Make a List

What don't you like about your appearance? Is your belly too big? Your nose too odd? Your bottom unruly? The women in the following video had no shortage of body parts that were too imperfect. They represent women internationally who are quick to judge themselves based on their less-than-perfect (in their minds) selves.

What do you love about your appearance? Um. Um. Well. Um. The women in the following video pause for reflection. They stipulate a body part, but only when the body part could be positioned a certain way. They represent women internationally who are quick to stumble for the stunning beauty they carry in themselves at every moment, every day.

Take a gander at this quick video and then learn about our Pay It Forward hope for you and society today.

This got us thinking (uh-oh, I know, right?): What if you generated two lists; one for yourself and one for another special person in your life. Your first list should be things about yourself that you love. It should represents parts of yourself that are beautiful. And we find it an important exercise to complete. The next list should be for a special person in your life. This list should include things about that person you love. It should represent parts of your friend or family member that are beautiful. Then, drop your list about that special someone's beauty in the mail to her/him. Place your list about yourself somewhere you can see it (ex. bathroom mirror, closet door, wallet). When you start to judge and criticize yourself think about your list. Think about all of the beautiful attributes of which you grace the world. Think about all the ways you help others see more beautiful in the world. And then, hold your head higher. Smile bigger. Laugh louder. Love more. The more love you see and feel, the more you have to give.

Thanks for making this world a better place by simply being in it!

Last Pay It Forward wish: As you pass the list you generate for yourself, promise us one thing, promise us you'll try to see those beautiful things in yourself. You are beautiful.

  9. Such a refreshing website.  I thought this post was really inspiring.  It is so easy to see our own flaws and to ignore what makes us each so unique and wonderful.  It's nice to be reminded that there are things that we love about ourselves.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I'm now following back!

  10. It's true that for most people it's harder to see beautiful in yourself. You tend to see all the flaws first without appreciating what you have. Thanks for reminding us to love ourselves!

  18.  OH, Patricia, you're  not alone. In fact, unfortunately pop culture continues to send this message to our young girls too. It's disgusting and unfair. So happy to connect with you. We're honored that you'd add us to your sidebar. Wow. Thank you! Happy seeing beautiful!

  21. You'll definitely want to stop by Classic Childrens Books March 11 - 17th. I am co-hosting the Classic Reading for Kid's annual event with MyMcBooks.wordpress.com and I will be sharing reviews of Classic Children's books from the 50's (for the most part) and I have an exciting special announcement & review the last day too - you don't want to miss that one! And I'm also giving away all of those books to one lucky reader! =D
