Just D.A.L.E. It!

Picture

THE D.A.L.E. FOUNDATION

Picture Do A Little Extra = D.A.L.E. That's all you have to do, just D.A.L.E. it every day. Dale's family started The D.A.L.E. Foundation to grow the random acts of kindness movement around the world, in memory of their family member. Dale A. Settle, Jr. was a 22 yr old youth group leader for young adults.  Dale tragically lost his life in September of 2011 while walking into a bible study at his church.   He tried to talk down two gunmen who were threatening Dale and two friends. Dale jumped in front of his two friends, reached for the gun, and was shot. In the moments and hours after the shooting, witnesses account Dale's beautiful prayer to repeatedly forgive the assailants.

His family writes, "If you had known Dale, he really would have helped the gunman. And if his friends were two strangers, he would have saved their lives too. Dale was always helping people he didn't even know. He loved children and had a contagious smile for anyone he came in contact with."

Thus the D.A.L.E. Foundation was born to honor his see beautiful spirit. Dale's family would like to keep this "Pay it Forward" going by doing random acts of kindness whenever the opportunity presents itself.

How? You download the flier at the top of this page and print multiple copies. Keep them with you so you have them available when needed. Your paying it forward can happen in any way. "It can be as simple as helping a friend in need, or paying for the people sitting next to you in a restaurant. Some people have paid for a stranger's gas at the pump, or bought a simple $5 gift card at a donut shop and handed it to the next person in line, along with the flier. By giving the flier with every act of kindness, Dale's story will spread little by little and eventually his story will be heard worldwide" (D.A.L.E. Foundation, 2012).

Upon being contacted by Dale's Aunt, we knew this was in direct correlation with the work of See Beautiful. We want to make this world a better place. It is clear Dale did. As you think about paying it forward, or "doing a little extra" know you're making an impact. Not only do you see more beautiful through your giving, but you're changing a life, and in the case of the D.A.L.E. foundation, you're growing his giving spirit.

  6. We are very grateful for you featuring The D.A.L.E. Foundation this month. It truly means a lot to us. We want his story to be shared with as many people as possible in hopes of inspiring others to be more like Dale was. Please be sure to visit the website often as we will be updating it. Eventually we will have a scholarship fund set up and we will be presenting a yearly scholarship to a senior where Dale went to high school.  Thanks for all of the kind comments.
