Miss Rumphius by Barbara Cooney
Winner of the American Book Award in 1982, Miss Rumphius continues to leave all her readers inspired to see and create more beautiful in the world. Young Alice wants to travel the world when she grows up - just like her grandfather. While he believes that dream to be "all good and well" there's one more thing he tells her she must do. She must, "do something to make the world more beautiful."As Alice grows and travels the world she holds the task of her grandfather close to heart: Do something to make the world more beautiful. As she grows from Alice to Miss Rumphius to the Lupine Lady, she lives each day to create more beautiful for all the world to see.
Every time we read this book we get chills. The beautiful crafting of words with illustrations merits its prestigious award while also inviting children, young and old, to remember a great goal of life: "You must do something to make the world more beautiful."

Maybe MOM has lived under a rock but she has not heard of this book. So she off to check it out. On a personal note: Yes Sneaky Snake does like toilet paper. I can only assume that they are all like that so See Beautful Snake must be the one who had some fun in the night. And you know what the beautful part about the whole thing is?...... You laughed. And you know what that made me do?.... Smile ear to ear.
