Home is Whenever I'm with You

Coming off of the holiday season, most of us have settled back into our normal routines. Family visits wound down, one might find an aching for the extended family they just celebrated with during the holidays. An often rushed frenzy of traveling from place to place in order to get all the visits in, this time of year leaves us reflecting on why those visits feel like home. It's because family is home. Whenever we're with them, you're home. Those we love bring home to a crowded restaurant, smoky bar, or busy shopping center. Those we love bring home to crammed cars, full kitchens, and leftover-choices for dinner. Home is whenever we're together. When we're apart, there's a little piece that's missing, even if we're back to the normalcy of life. "Home is whenever I'm with you."

The following video took YouTube by storm and stole our hearts. It gives us chills to watch it, as a wonderful reminder that, "holy, moly, me-oh-my, you're the apple of my eye" and "Home is whenever I'm with you."

Some also say that home is where the heart is, and for those missing family dearly, we think this applies here. If you carry them in your heart (and the "laugh until you think you'll die" memories), well, perhaps your home.

  1. Since I live in an entirely different country then my family, I live in a constant state of homesickness. But, I carry my parents and siblings (and our-laugh-until-we-die memories) in my heart and that helps me feel like I'm home. What a great song. Totally brought tears to my face.

  3. As sugar's Momma states... it is hard to say Good-bye. BUT, what a blessing to have been able to be together and have those memories. We are truly blessed to all carry home and family ALWAYS in our hearts.
