True Beauty is Not a Stasis

As we celebrate the incredible work of our February non-profit, the Alonzo A. Crim Center for Educational Excellence, they've whipped up their own focus this month, "Seeing Beautiful in our Youth." It's a focus that is seminal in our community. As part of their focus, they invited young women enrolled in their Early College High School Project to share how they see beautiful in themselves and the world. The following reflection is brilliantly written by Liza Wemakor. We find ourselves reveling in great hope that our future holds so much thoughtfulness and beauty. Thank you, Liza for sharing such wisdom for others on seeing beautiful.

"The truly beautiful share in the belief that their brilliance extends beyond the appeal of their sexuality. They recognize that it fills no hourglass mold, nor does it take on a description of perfection that is found only in children's dolls. True beauty is not a stasis--it is not a straight path that sees no growth. Rather, it is an ever-moving spirit that evolves and transcends as we move forward. My humbled perspective sees beauty as the essence of one's identity, encompassing all that is wondrously flawed as its own entity."
