Pretty vs Beautiful

What do you see when you look in the mirror? Does the reflection staring back at you beg you to gaze at, and critique feature after feature after imperfection after wrinkle, after baggy eyes? Pause for a moment and take in the reflection staring back at you.

Take another moment and ponder this: Why do you think the things you do when you look in the mirror? Where did you learn to judge?

If you're staring into the mirror and critiquing, or putting down, the image staring back at you, there's a good chance that society is running a wheel house in your mind - a valuable one that on the contrary has the potential to lift your spirits and impart beautiful in your life everyday. If society IS indeed running the hamster wheel of doubt in your mind, don't worry, you can retire that wheel and take back the thinking space that is rightfully yours.

Here's the deal, there is a difference between pretty and beautiful and there's a difference between society's garbage and your mind space. Invite yourself to this party to see beautiful. Take a moment to remember that your body (the one you're so busy critiquing), is a vessel of transportation for the true gift you really are. Take care of your vessel and appreciate it, but don't beat it up because it doesn't fit the airbrushed image of a billboard face staring back at you. See past the societal ads and into the beauty you possess and your ability to use that to create more beautiful in the world. YOU get to decide upon and celebrate your beauty and your impact.

How beautiful that you write your own life by the perspective and perception you use?! Ultimately, it's up to you to decide between good/bad, ugly/beautiful, happy/sad, frumpy/skinny, etc. and you deserve to be kind to yourself and those around you. Celebrate your beauty and strength in infinite ways. Fire the space of society's hamster wheel in your mind and try treating yourself with worth and love and kindness and patience - the stuff of life you gift to others.

And when you graze past a mirror and start to play with the words "pretty" "not enough" "judging" "needing" or "changing," try this on for size: You are beautiful. You are loved and you are so worthy of being loved. You make this world a better place by being in it. There are so many who are thankful for you.

Happy seeing beautiful.
