The following reflection about how one sees beautiful is shared by our February non-profit of the month, the Alonzo A. Crim Center for Urban Educational Excellence. From teacher, Layli Maparyan, here's an inspiring passage about how she see's beautiful:
The essence of beauty is lodged in
the spirit, so seeing with spiritual eyes permits everyone's beauty to be
witnessed. As a teacher, I gaze upon a new class with spiritual eyes, looking
for the sparks of spirit in every student. In every student, there is a Light
that shines through, no matter what their outer appearance. It takes me
straight to the beautiful essence of the person -- divine, ready to learn,
ready to teach, ready to connect, ready to challenge, ready to experience,
ready to share, ready to grow. This beautiful essence is where my most sublime
and rewarding experiences as a teacher take place. It is a place where I not
only give but also receive. ~ Layli Maparyan
